Bowls Algarve Super 10's

AMENDOEIRA WIN CAMERON CUP AND SUPER TENS

The final of the Cameron Cup was held today (Sunday 14^th March) as is traditional, at the Tavira Club, Bill and Joan Cameron having donated the prestigious trophy some years ago. The final was made more interesting in that it was between two sides new to Bowls Algarve, Amendoeira and Pedras. This in itself is a tribute to the exciting growth and development of the game of bowls throughout the Algarve.  A closely - fought match was eventually won by the Amendoeira Club who defeated Pedras by nine shots, 33-24, to take their first ever trophy. The afternoon saw the Super Tens final between Amendoeira, making their second appearance of the day, and Valverde, another club new to Bowls Algarve this season. Valverde took the singles match, when John Denn defeated Mary Banks by 21-12 in an excellent mach to watch. Amendoeira however then clinched their second trophy of the day by taking the pairs, triples and fours in quick succession to become Super Tens Champions.

A memorable day, and our thanks to the Tavira Club for hosting the events and providing light meals and refreshments throughout the day. Well done to all the finalists on reaching this far and we look forward to the continued and positive development of Bowls Algarve and Bowls in general in Portugal.
